In situations where an invasive species is well established eradication or control is not realistic. Species that are already well established, i.e. sweet clover, management to control the spread is the strategy.
Management through eradication, containment, and control efforts is needed for established invasive species to minimize their environmental and economical impacts and prevent their spread.
The biology of the species involved is important in determining the treatment. A treatment must assess the degree of damage and species distribution in order to properly assign a treatment. Often a combination of treatments needs to considered. For instance, effective oxeye daisy control involves mechanical and chemical control in combination with a change in land use methods (mowing fields, grazing, or seeding with more competitive species).
Creeping Thistle is growing on this private property. Twice a year volunteers go out and remove the flowers.
